Yraunaj
It’s been a long time but I’m guessing one mix a month should be what I’ll be doing this year.
2010 holds good things for Ellie Goulding, These New Puritans, new things from Gorillaz, Justice and Jedward.

I heard this story today and reminded me to upload this mix from a while back. This was the second half of a two-parter but I can’t find the first half.
Anyway the story goes something like this:
It’s about this kid, around 17, ready to go off into the world of higher education.
And so he applied to the big ones, the Oxbridge and Camford Universities, the Red Brick Institutions, set...

There is going to be a few more mixes coming up soonish.
The sun is out
the rain falls
and the music gets better.
I did this mix a few weeks back and never got a chance to upload it.
Haven’t got a tracklist but it’s a load of old school hip-hop from when things were 8-bit.
So here it is.

NanimeW mix
This mix was done for NanimeW, Wednesday 5th March.
An ambitious attempt at 30 tracks over 30 minutes (those pedantic enough will count 31).
A schizophrenia array of J-Pop, J-Rock, Game music and other such things.
I like it, I’m sure there will a few that do too and many more who wish they have unheard it. Well it’s too late.

MoonFull
This is a nice little dancey mix, with beeps and boings, and an accidental ‘ding’ in Sexyback which I don’t know the origin. But I buzzz beepy tunes, so crank the bass and have fun. Next few mixes will have some tips for MMIX: first one in here is Adrian Lux. He’s all Swedish and part of this new dance movement trying to bring Techno back. I think Little Boots is getting...

It’s the end of the year.
It’s nearly the end of the decade too.
This mix runs in at nearly 90 minutes, and jumps from being pretty 130 bpm to 90 bpm to whatever bpm it feels like.
Check out the Nightmare Revisted album because I said so. It’s the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack re-envisioned by artist like RJD2, Rodrigo Y Gabriela and Datarock.
Oh and there’s...

RunningWild
This mixtape is like watching an egg timer. See that sand start heavy, moving down and then choking. All you want to do it flip it and watch it flow again.
Antony (and the johnsons) Hegarty features on two tracks; Bjork’s Dull Flame… and Cocorosie’s Beautiful Boys. His unique vocal style bagged him a Mercury Music Prize a while back.

Fresh Breath
Things start again in September.
I’ll try and do alot less M.I.A and Lykke Li and a bit more something else.
After all, I have to get down with the kids. Yeah, the kids are alright.
So onto TwentySix and I recommend listening to Squarepusher, Ladyhawke, MGMT and Santogold some more.

Another Project
This is another one I worked on.
“As the new night is now only a week away we the Ambergamblers have put together another mix. Its basically an example of how we like to play and the sort of music that we like to hear. From Hip Hop to Baltimore, Garage to House, House to Bass line. Created with the secret 5th Ambergambler “The Bear” Also its about having a good time. Music you...
Amber my Gamblers
I’ve been busy with things. Kicking buckets, moving towns and pressing reset
Musically I’ve had a few projects here and there including this one.
It’s was in conjuctions with my good friends the amber gamblers.
“In tribute to the new night that we are starting at esko on the 20th of September. We have finished a new Baltimore style mix!!!!!!!!. Featuring some classic...

BreakingClouds
When I started a few years back, my short attention span meant fast switches and harsh blends; I was encouraged to play tracks out but some do last for more than 5 minutes by which time I’m burned out. So this one’s a return to form, 30-something tracks over 70 minutes. I don’t think most people will like the shift in styles.
This one is a celebration of the songs that rocked...

Sometimes I have difficulty sleeping. You know, close your eyes but there’s no movies playing. Not even a trailer.
Sometimes I’ll listen to something to help me sleep. Sort of like foreplay, only without the sore tongue.
Anyway, this set is no bedtime story.
Not to begin with anyway, this is all movie music or things you heard in a commercial sometime ago. So it’s all stuff...
PopYourHip
I dunno what’s on this mix.
I bashed some Hip Hop, DnB and those of tracks together and they turned out OK.

Sand scoop, flame on. Waterwing, on tight. Water pistol, shooting euphoria. Getting high, Childs play
I guess this is a follow up to Amy’sCrackedLungs.
This is a blinding set, giant artists reworked into heavy Electro and sexy House.
Leave your expectations with your coats. You can keep your hat on.

Build a star, just to watch it fall.
This set is full of women.
I guess I can see why VICE laid into The Ting Tings now; I hate the track Shut Up and Let Me Go. When I first heard it because I thought it was CSS and then I found out it was The Ting Tings and I felt cheated. I guess I was spiting myself when I was asked to play it.

AlpacasAreMoreHipHopThanYou
This set gave me some headaches. I hated the original tracklist and changed it as I went along. It’s gold now.
The Mystery Jets get mashed. NY Lipps is a Soulwax twist on Funkytown. Sweet Dreams gets hurt and Minnie Riperton is collateral.
Windowlicker has an amazing video, and that gets minced into the track.
Then comes a gem with Party In My Tummy. Yeah! Yummy Yummy!

ComingDowntheMountain
This is an experimental set. Sort of a Beta.
Think Sunday morning, think Tuesday afternoon, think falling on the floor with Roman.
It’s multilayered, blends of classical and chilled out tinkley tracks.
Some moments may sound like a mess, but that’s the effect I’m trying to capture. One point has 4 songs layered together.
Hamduche is a chilled jazz track with Gnawa vocals,...

A few years ago Evian had an amazing advert. Forget balls-not-dropped choirs, it’s all about crayon chewing high on FrootShoot kids.
Pushing the Sky is taken form the Cowboy Bebop Movie OST. If there was one thing that was amazing about Cowboy Bebop, it was the awesome awesome soundtrack. The series itself has had 7 official releases as well as the movie having 3 of it’s own. One of...
RoundTrip
This is an epic at two hours long, so I’ve split it into 2: AM and PM.
The third TwoThousandEight set which was being set up by the previous two (Starmyx and BashEmUp).
Some incredible sounds in there. It takes an hour to lift off, which is the morning and goes on through the night, which is PM.
It’s more a compilation of tracks that are woven in other soundtracks somewhere or...
MarkRonson
OK so this is not a usual post. I’m working on something at the moment and just making sure the tracklist is up to scratch.
People often say why I bum Mark Ronson so much. Well the Annie Mac Minimix speaks for itself. If there was a single mix I could name that influenced TwoThousandEight, it’s this.
39 songs in 5 minutes with seamless blends.

CrookedTailbone
Well another set I did a few days ago.
This one has a few track that wouldn’t fit in anywhere.
I never heard the Usher song before I heard this MSTRKRFT mix and it’s infectious.
Alot of Felix Da Housecat and Soulwax, both giants with mixes. Take the Nina Simone track f’r instance.
Lots of familiar tracks, that Funkytown mix is an alternative to the original bearing...

MongoPush
OK So MongoPush is a different direction again. This time there’s fewer blends and more simple crossfades. The tracks are magic.
Tokyo Jihen and Shiina Ringo are dynamite. Check out the movie Sakuran which is what Memoirs of a Geisha should have been. Sakuran has the divine fox Anna Tsuchiya, being the ultimate geisha accompanied by Shiina Ringo’s soundtrack.

OlliePopnShuvIt
My favorite set from TwoThousandEight.
After the grudgingly mixed StroketheSun, I decided to take the beats I like and throw them down.
The Diplo mix of Kanye’s track is great because Kanye isn’t on it, it’s the Foxx vocals so in essence it really is Ray Charles work.
I really hated Rihanna’s Umbrella, but the Haji Emanuel mix has a good beat underneath and those...
StroketheSun
A bit different to the others, needed to calm down after RoundTrip.
More popular mixes in this set, not one of my favorites but popular with some people.
I dislike the blend from A Fifth… into 4 minutes but that song starts off like an arsehole and you kinda forget 30 seconds into the song. Fucking hate Madonna.
The Chanelle track is a throwback to all the other pop tracks in there. It...
BashemUp
This was the second TwoThousandEight mix.
A bit more dirtier.
I guess it starts off pretty shitty, not alot of people dug Kate Bush or Supertramp, but come on they’re good tunes.
What a Feeling by Namie Amuro is a good rework and not as painful as some other Jpop incarnations over the years.
Daft Punk really picks it up, before DJ Shadow starts to slow it down.
The MIA track is sweet,...
Starmyx
This was the pioneering TwoThousandEight mix (April 2008).
A barrage of various tunes, old and new, far and near, obscure and popular.
Yeh Dosti is magical, taken from the legendary Bollywood movie Sholay. Yeh Dosti means this friendship.
Interestingly enough, it ends with Mint Royale’s Singin’ in the Rain. Which as of June 2008 is back in the charts, thanks to Britains got...
